מפרק כדורי (צירכדור) הוא מסב הכדור הספרי המחבר את זרוע הבקרה של המתלה לציר ההיגוי — ציר הסיבוב שמאפשר לגלגל הקדמי להיגוי שמאלה וימינה תוך כדי תנועה מעלה ומטה עם המתלה. במתלה קדמי עצמאי מודרני יש מפרק כדורי אחד או שניים בכל צד; מפרקי כדור משמשים גם בחלק ממיקומי מתלה אחורי ורצועות הנעה של רכבי שטח.

כיצד זה עובד
ניסוח היגוי ומתלה
הבורג הכדורי מסתובב חופשית בתוך הסוגר שלו, ומאפשר לציר ההיגוי להסתובב לקלט היגוי וגם להטות אנכית כשהמתלה נלחץ ומתרחב — שתי התנועות דרך מפרק קומפקטי אחד.
נושא עומס לעומת עוקב
בפריסה סטנדרטית של זרוע שליטה/סטרט, המפרק הכדורי התחתון הוא נושא עומס (נושא את משקל הרכב) והמפרק העליון, אם קיים, הוא עוקב (ממקם את הציר אך לא נושא עומס אנכי). במתלה כפול-ויישבון שני המפרקים חולקים את העומס.
עיגון camber ו-caster
שני מפרקי הכדור (או מפרק כדורי אחד ומסב הסטרט) מגדירים את ציר ההיגוי. בלאי המפרקים משנה ציר זה ומוציא את זוויות camber ו-caster מהמפרט.
מבנה ובנייה
בורג פלדה מקושה המוחזק בתוך מסב פולימרי (PTFE/POM) או מתכת-על-מתכת בתוך שחמט פלדה מחושלת או לחוצה. אטום עם גומיית אטימה מניאופרן/פוליאוריתן ומשומן לכל החיים ברוב העיצובים המודרניים (מספר עיצובים כבדים שומרים על ניפל שמן). הרכבה בלחיצה או בברגים בהתאם לעיצוב זרוע הבקרה.
תסמיני כשל נפוצים
- נקישה על פגמי דרך. משטח מסב בלוי מאפשר לבורג הכדורי להכות בסוגר שלו בכל פעם שהמתלה מבצע מחזור.
- משיכת היגוי או נדידה. ציר ההיגוי נסחף כשהמפרק הבלוי מאפשר לציר להזיז, ומושך את הרכב לצד אחד תחת האצה או בלימה.
- בלאי צמיג גביעי או משונן. חוסר יציבות ב-camber גורם לנקודת המגע לדלג על פני הצמיג, ויוצר אזורי בלאי לא אחיד לאורך היקף הצמיג.
- משחק גלוי בגלגל. עם הגלגל באוויר, ניענוע הצמיג בשעה 12 ו-6 חושף נקישה — בדיקת מפרק כדור קבועה.

האם יש להחליף מפרקי כדור בזוגות?
עבור מפרקים נושאי עומס (תחתונים) — כן. שני הצדדים חווים מחזור עומס שווה והשני בדרך כלל כושל זמן קצר לאחר הראשון. מפרקים עוקבים (עליונים) ניתן להחליף בנפרד אם רק אחד מראה בלאי.
האם אפשר לנהוג עם מפרק כדורי בלוי?
לא בבטחה. כישלון מוחלט של מפרק כדורי נושא עומס גורם לגלגל לקרוס החוצה — הרכב יורד על המתלה ומאבד שליטת היגוי. יש להחליף מיד ברגע שמתגלה משחק.
האם נדרשת כוונת גלגלים לאחר החלפה?
כן. camber ו-caster נקבעים על ידי מיקום מפרק הכדור; החלפה תמיד משנה ערכים אלו וכוונת מתקן היא חובה.
כמה זמן מחזיקים מפרקי כדור?
מפרקי OEM מחזיקים בדרך כלל 120,000–250,000 ק"מ בדרכים סלולות. שימוש בשטח, קורוזיה ממלח או נזק לאטמה מקצרים את אורך החיים בצורה דרסטית.
